Thriyv: Before Treatment Information Sheet – Anti-Wrinkle Injections
Purpose
This guide provides important information to help you prepare for your upcoming anti-wrinkle (botulinum toxin) treatment at Thriyv. Please read it carefully and contact us if you have any questions before your appointment.
About the Treatment
Anti-wrinkle injections use a purified form of botulinum toxin type A to relax targeted facial muscles responsible for dynamic lines and wrinkles. Common treatment areas include the forehead (frontalis), frown lines (glabella), and crow’s feet (orbicularis oculi).
Expected Benefits
- Smoother, more refreshed facial appearance.
- Reduction in dynamic lines and prevention of deeper crease formation.
- Subtle, natural results that develop gradually over 3–7 days, with full effect around 2 weeks.
- Results typically last 3–6 months.
How the Procedure Works
- The product is injected precisely into selected facial muscles using a fine needle.
- Treatment takes approximately 15–30 minutes.
- No downtime is usually required—you can return to normal daily activities immediately afterward.
Medical and Consent Requirements
- Before your appointment, you’ll need to complete a Medical History and Consent Form. Your Thriyv clinician will review your:
- Current medications and allergies.
- Previous cosmetic or medical treatments.
- Relevant medical history (neuromuscular disorders, pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc.).
- A face-to-face consultation and prescription by an appropriate prescriber is required for all botulinum toxin treatments under UK law.
Contraindications (When Treatment Cannot Proceed)
- Anti-wrinkle injections are not suitable for clients who:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Are under 18 years of age (per the Botulinum Toxin and Cosmetic Fillers (Children) Act 2021).
- Have a neuromuscular disorder (e.g. myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome).
- Have an active skin infection or inflammation at the planned injection sites.
- Have had a previous allergic reaction to botulinum toxin or its excipients.
- Are currently unwell (e.g. with a cold, sinus infection, or fever).
- If you’re unsure about your suitability, please discuss this with your clinician in advance.

Less Common
