Thriyv: Aftercare Information Sheet – Anti-Wrinkle Injections
Purpose
This guide outlines what to expect following your anti-wrinkle (botulinum toxin) treatment and how to care for the treated areas to ensure safe and effective results. Please read it carefully and follow the advice provided.
Immediately After Treatment
You may experience mild redness, tenderness, or small bumps at the injection sites. These usually settle within a few hours. Bruising and mild swelling can also occur but typically resolve within a few days.
Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated areas for at least 24 hours. This helps prevent the product from moving into unintended muscles. Avoid lying down or bending forward excessively for 4 hours post-treatment.
If you experience a mild headache after treatment, you may take paracetamol if required. Avoid ibuprofen or aspirin for 24 hours as they can increase bruising.
Activities to avoid for 24 hours after treatment:
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot baths, or steam rooms.
- Do not consume alcohol.
- Avoid applying makeup over the treated areas.
For 48 hours after treatment:
- Avoid facial massages or beauty treatments that involve pressure or heat.
- For the first 2 weeks:
- Avoid further aesthetic procedures in the treated area.
What to Expect
The effects of anti-wrinkle injections develop gradually. Most clients notice an improvement after 3–7 days, with full results visible at around 14 days. The results typically last between 3–6 months, depending on individual factors such as metabolism, muscle strength, and lifestyle.
Aftercare Tips
- Stay upright for 4 hours after treatment.
- Keep the area clean and avoid unnecessary touching.
- Gentle facial movements (smiling, frowning) in the first few hours may help distribute the product evenly.
- Apply a cold compress if needed to reduce swelling or discomfort.
- Avoid high temperatures (saunas, hot yoga, sun beds) for 48 hours.
Review Appointment
A review is recommended 2 weeks after treatment to assess your results and determine if a small adjustment or top-up is required. This allows your practitioner to ensure symmetry and optimise your outcome.
Possible Side Effects
Most side effects are mild and temporary. Common reactions include redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at injection sites. These usually resolve within a few days.
Less common effects include temporary headache, mild flu-like symptoms, or slight asymmetry. Rarely, temporary drooping of the eyelid or brow may occur; this usually resolves within a few weeks.
