You have compared community traditional saunas, gym steam rooms and contrast-studio credits. Before you book, you want a clear number — what a session costs in the UK, what sits behind the bill, and what a private FAR infrared cabin looks like at a doctor-led clinic in Manchester city centre.
Dr Callum Shields MBChB, MRCS (GMC 7668672) leads Thriyv at 14–16 Whitworth Street, Manchester M1 3BS. The clinic is registered with the CQC after a registration assessment. We have 500+ five-star reviews across Google, Fresha and ClassPass. Medical screening first. Individual results vary.
People asking how much does infrared sauna cost usually want three things: a UK market sense-check, how traditional and community heat venues compare with a private FAR infrared cabin, and what a single session costs at clinic. At Thriyv a single FAR infrared sauna session is £30. Pricing and booking sit on our FAR infrared sauna page.
UK infrared sauna prices — what you usually see
Across the UK, published infrared and traditional sauna session prices commonly sit from the low tens into the mid-tens of pounds for a timed visit, and higher where a venue sells day-pass credits, multi-room contrast circuits or a shared community steam slot. Independent doctor-led clinics can publish a clear single-session figure for a private FAR infrared cabin. Those figures are general market context, not a named competitor chart.
Several drivers sit behind the bill:
- Heat category — traditional community saunas and gym steam rooms heat shared air or wet rooms; FAR infrared warms you directly in a dry private cabin at about 60°C.
- Session length — a private FAR infrared block at Thriyv runs for 30 minutes; day-pass and multi-room venues price time and room access differently.
- Private vs shared — a 1–2 person cabin booked to you costs more to run than a walk-up shared steam room with no clinical pathway.
- Who screens you — doctor-led intake and a CQC-registered premises cost more to run than a social heat venue with no medical history step.
- City-centre overheads — Whitworth Street rent, staffing, indemnity and clinical governance sit in the session price.
- Membership vs pay-as-you-go — regular clients who stack modalities often use a monthly membership rather than six separate walk-ins.
At Thriyv the public figures are simple: £30 for a single FAR infrared sauna session, and Thriyv Wellness Membership at £200 per month. Suitability first. If you are not a candidate, we stop.
FAR infrared vs traditional and community heat — how pricing differs
In market language, “sauna” covers traditional hot-air rooms, gym steam, contrast studios and FAR infrared cabins. The category and the visit shape differ. We do not invent competitor venue price cards here. Individual results vary.
Price gaps usually reflect venue type, privacy, city location and how the clinic packages memberships — not a secret second heat type. Community traditional saunas and gym steam rooms sit in a social heat category. At Thriyv we run a private FAR infrared cabin under doctor-led governance, with a single session at £30.
Ask what heat type, who delivers care, and what medical screening sits inside any quote before you compare two bills. This page stays on cost. Full service detail lives on the FAR infrared sauna money page.
How long is a session — and what drives the fee?
At Thriyv a FAR infrared sauna session runs for 30 minutes in a private cabin booked for one or two people. That timed block is a cost driver because you have the room to yourself (or share only with the person you book with) rather than a shared steam queue on a day pass.
Some people book a single session first to confirm comfort and fit. Others plan a membership once cleared. Frequency later, if used, is set against your goals and clinical factors rather than locked on a blog calendar.
We plan after screening. Individual results vary. We do not promise detox, calorie-burn, blood-pressure or recovery outcomes from any fixed number of visits.
Is membership better value than pay-as-you-go?
Thriyv Wellness Membership is £200 per month on the live money-page FAQ. That is membership context for people stacking modalities — not reinvented per-session maths for FAR infrared alone.
Pay-as-you-go stays at £30 per FAR infrared sauna session. Confirm live options on Fresha and the service page — we do not rebuild a package sales page here.
Optional stack context only: many clients pair FAR infrared with our red light therapy on a recovery visit. Red light pricing belongs on its own red light therapy cost guide; this article stays on infrared sauna.
Consultations and treatments book via Fresha. Confirm live SKUs on the service page before you plan a block.
What is included in a doctor-led FAR infrared session?
A FAR infrared sauna visit at Thriyv sits under the medical governance of Dr Callum Shields. The wider appointment covers medical history, suitability check, consent and the 30-minute private cabin session where you are cleared to proceed.
We use a private FAR infrared cabin in a CQC-registered clinic. New clients start with screening before the first cabin booking. Tell us about heart conditions, pregnancy or recent illness at consultation. If you are unsuitable, we defer or stop.
Full commercial detail and live booking sit on FAR infrared sauna at Thriyv. Book via Fresha when you are ready, or enquire if you want to talk suitability through first.
