Thriyv: Before Treatment Information Sheet – Dermal Fillers

Purpose

This guide provides important information to help you prepare for your upcoming dermal filler treatment at Thriyv. Please read it carefully and contact us if you have any questions before your appointment.

About the Treatment

Dermal fillers are injectable gels made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the skin that attracts and retains moisture, helping to restore lost volume, enhance facial features, and smooth fine lines. Fillers are used in areas such as the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and tear troughs.

Expected Benefits

  • Enhanced facial volume and symmetry.
  • Improved definition and contour.
  • Softening of lines and wrinkles.
  • Natural, rejuvenated appearance.
  • Immediate results that settle fully within 2 weeks.

Longevity typically between 6–18 months, depending on the product, area treated, and individual metabolism.

How the Procedure Works

Your clinician will assess your anatomy and treatment goals before injecting small amounts of filler beneath the skin using a fine needle or blunt-tipped cannula. The procedure usually takes 30–60 minutes and is tailored to each individual for balance, precision, and safety.

Medical and Consent Requirements

Before treatment, you’ll need to complete a Medical History and Consent Form. Your Thriyv clinician will review your current medications and allergies, past aesthetic treatments or surgeries, and medical history, including autoimmune or bleeding disorders, pregnancy, and previous filler reactions. A face-to-face consultation and prescription (if required) will take place prior to treatment to ensure suitability.

Contraindications (When Treatment Cannot Proceed)

  • Dermal filler treatment is not suitable for clients who:
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Are under 18 years of age (per UK regulations).
  • Have an active infection, cold sore, or skin inflammation near the injection site.
  • Have a known allergy or sensitivity to filler components.
  • Have a bleeding disorder or are taking anticoagulant medication (may require medical clearance).
  • Have an autoimmune condition or are on immunosuppressive therapy that may affect healing.
  • Are unwell on the day of treatment (for example flu, cold, or fever).
  • If unsure, please contact the clinic in advance for advice.

Risks and Possible Side Effects

While dermal fillers are safe when performed by qualified clinicians, all injectable treatments carry some risks.

  • Swelling, redness, or tenderness at injection sites.
  • Minor bruising.
  • Small lumps or firmness that usually resolve within days.
