Thriyv: Before Treatment Information Sheet – Cryolipolysis
Purpose
This guide provides important information to help you prepare for your upcoming Cryolipolysis (fat freezing) treatment at Thriyv. Please read it carefully and contact us if you have any questions before your appointment.
About the Treatment
Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that targets and reduces stubborn fat deposits using controlled cooling technology. The Cryo Quattro by Sculpt Pro system uses 360° cooling applicators with real-time temperature monitoring to safely freeze fat cells without damaging surrounding skin or tissue. Over the following weeks, the treated fat cells are naturally eliminated by your body’s metabolic processes.

How the Procedure Works
A cooling applicator is positioned over the target area, gently drawing the tissue into the treatment cup using suction. The applicator then cools the area to between −1°C and −10°C, initiating controlled fat cell crystallisation. Each area is treated for approximately 25–50 minutes, followed by a brief massage to aid circulation and fat breakdown. You may feel an initial pulling or cold sensation that subsides as the area becomes numb.
Treatment Course
A single session can produce noticeable results. However, some clients may require 1–3 treatments per area, spaced 8–12 weeks apart, to achieve their desired outcome. Your Thriyv clinician will discuss a tailored treatment plan during your consultation.
Medical and Consent Requirements
Before your appointment, you will need to complete a Medical History and Consent Form. Your clinician will review your health status, medical history, and suitability for treatment. Please inform your clinician of any recent surgeries, skin conditions, or underlying medical issues.
Contraindications (When Treatment Cannot Proceed)
Cryolipolysis is not suitable for clients who:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have cold-related conditions such as Raynaud’s disease, cryoglobulinemia, or cold urticaria.
- Have an active infection, dermatitis, or open wound at the treatment site.
- Have uncontrolled diabetes, severe cardiovascular disease, or liver/kidney disease.
- Have nerve damage or reduced sensation in the treatment area.
- Are currently taking anticoagulant medication or have a bleeding disorder.
- Have recently undergone abdominal or hernia surgery in the treatment area.
- If you are unsure about your suitability, please contact the clinic in advance.
Possible Side Effects
Cryolipolysis is a safe and well-tolerated procedure. Temporary redness, numbness, tingling, or mild bruising are common and usually resolve within a few days. Rare side effects include prolonged numbness or tenderness, and extremely rare complications such as frostbite or paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (uneven thickening of fat tissue). Your clinician will explain all potential risks before treatment.
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
- Avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) for 24 hours before treatment.
- Keep skin clean and free from lotions, oils, or fake tan.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Eat a light meal before your appointment.
- Maintain a stable body weight before and after treatment to ensure lasting results.
- Inform your clinician if you have had any other body contouring treatments recently.
