Thriyv: Before Treatment Information Sheet – Obagi Blue Peel Radiance

Purpose

This guide provides important information to help you prepare for your upcoming Obagi Blue Peel Radiance treatment at Thriyv. Please read it carefully and contact us if you have any questions before your appointment.

About the Treatment

The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a superficial chemical peel designed to gently exfoliate the skin, improving texture, tone, and overall clarity. The peel contains a blend of salicylic, glycolic, and lactic acids to remove dead skin cells and promote cell renewal. It is suitable for most skin types and helps address concerns such as dullness, uneven pigmentation, fine lines, and mild acne.

Expected Benefits

  • Brighter, smoother, and more even-toned skin.
  • Reduction in fine lines and minor blemishes.
  • Improved texture and radiance.
  • Minimal downtime compared to deeper peels.

How the Procedure Works

During treatment, the skin is cleansed and prepared with an Obagi prep solution before the peel is applied evenly across the face. You may feel a mild tingling or stinging sensation, which settles quickly. The peel is self-neutralising and removed after a short contact period, followed by application of a soothing post-peel product and SPF.

Treatment Course

A series of 3–6 peels spaced 2–4 weeks apart is typically recommended for best results. Maintenance peels can then be performed every few months to preserve skin clarity and radiance.

Medical and Consent Requirements

Before your appointment, you will need to complete a Medical History and Consent Form. Your clinician will assess your skin type, sensitivity, and medical background to ensure that the treatment is appropriate for you. Please inform your clinician of any recent aesthetic treatments, topical retinoid or acid use, or active skin conditions.

Contraindications (When Treatment Cannot Proceed)

  • The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is not suitable for clients who:
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Have an active skin infection, cold sore, or open wound.
  • Have used isotretinoin (Roaccutane) in the past 6–12 months.
  • Have recently undergone laser, microneedling, or waxing in the treatment area.
  • Have an allergy or sensitivity to salicylic acid or other peel ingredients.
  • Have severe liver disease.
  • Have very sensitive or compromised skin, including eczema or severe rosacea.
  • If you are unsure about your suitability, please contact the clinic in advance.

Possible Side Effects

Mild redness, dryness, or light flaking may occur within 2–3 days of treatment. This is part of the exfoliation process and typically resolves within a week. Rare side effects include irritation, prolonged redness, or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

  • Avoid exfoliating agents (AHAs, BHAs, retinoids) and strong skincare products for 3–5 days before treatment.
  • Do not wax, shave, or use depilatory creams for 5–7 days prior.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
  • Ensure your skin is healthy and free from open wounds or irritation.
  • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, please inform the clinic prior to treatment so prophylactic antiviral medication can be considered.
