Thriyv: Before Treatment Information Sheet – Polynucleotides
Purpose
This guide provides important information to help you prepare for your upcoming polynucleotide treatment at Thriyv. Please read it carefully and contact us if you have any questions before your appointment.
About the Treatment
Polynucleotides are injectable biostimulating treatments designed to repair and regenerate the skin at a cellular level. Derived from purified DNA fragments, they work by improving hydration, elasticity, and tissue repair, stimulating fibroblast activity, and enhancing collagen and elastin production. Polynucleotide treatments are ideal for addressing fine lines, dullness, loss of firmness, acne scarring, and overall skin quality. Common treatment areas include the face, neck, décolletage, under-eye area, and hands.
Expected Benefits
- Improved skin elasticity, tone, and hydration.
- Smoother texture and reduction in fine lines.
- Natural skin regeneration without adding volume.
- Improved overall radiance and structure.
- Long-term skin health benefits with cumulative results over time.
How the Procedure Works
The treatment involves small injections of polynucleotide solution into the superficial or mid-dermis using a fine needle. The product stimulates cellular repair and regeneration within the skin. The procedure typically takes around 30–45 minutes. Mild redness or swelling is normal immediately afterwards.
Treatment Course
A typical course consists of 2–4 sessions spaced 2–3 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments are recommended every 6–9 months to sustain optimal results.
Medical and Consent Requirements
Before treatment, you will need to complete a Medical History and Consent Form. Your Thriyv clinician will review your current medications, allergies, and any previous aesthetic or medical procedures. Please inform your practitioner if you are using retinoids, blood-thinning medications, or have recently undergone other injectables or skin treatments.
Contraindications (When Treatment Cannot Proceed)
Polynucleotide treatment is not suitable for clients who:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Are under 18 years of age.
- Have an active skin infection, rash, or inflammation in the treatment area.
- Have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to product ingredients (including fish-based products).
- Have a history of severe autoimmune or connective tissue disorders.
- Are currently unwell with cold, flu, or fever.
- If you are unsure whether you are suitable for treatment, please contact the clinic prior to your appointment for guidance.
Possible Side Effects
Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or small bumps at the injection sites are common and temporary. Bruising may also occur and usually resolves within a few days. Rarely, infection or small nodules may develop at injection sites. Your clinician will explain potential side effects during your consultation.
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
- Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, or other anti-inflammatory medication for 24–48 hours before treatment (unless prescribed by your GP) to reduce bruising.
- Do not use retinol, glycolic acid, or exfoliating products on the skin for 24 hours prior.
- Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.
- Eat a light meal before your appointment to reduce the chance of faintness.
- Plan your appointment at least 2 weeks before any important events to allow the skin to fully settle.
